Ages 12 months-3 years. Swimmers with little or no experience will be taught water safety, floating, kicking, arm rokes, blowing bubbles, and object recovery. Parent is in water with child. Class takes place in the family pool in 3-4 feet of water.

Ages 2.5-4 years. For participants with little or no experience. Skills taught include water safety, floating, bubbling, kicking, arm strokes and object recovery. Child needs to easily separate from parent. Class takes place in Family pool in 4 feet of water.

Ages 4-6 years. For participants who have completed Sea Horse or can put their face in the water for at least three seconds. Skills taught include water safety, front kicking, object recovery, bobbing, back float, front crawl and intro to using a kick board. Class takes place in the Family Pool with a 2 foot ledge and up to 4 feet deep.

For school age beginners. Skills taught include water safety, freestyle arm stroke, back float with kicking, deep water orientation, bobbing, front float with glide and kicking, object retrieval. Class held in Competition Pool.

Advanced beginner level. Skills taught include water safety, rhythmic breathing with support, backstroke, underwater swim, treading water, standing dive, and deep water orientation. Class is held in the competition pool in 4-5 feet of water.

Seal: Intermediate level. Skills taught include water safety, rhythmic breathing with free style, breast stroke, back stroke, racing dive, and treading water for 1 minute. Class is held in competition pool in depths up to 12-15 feet deep.
Sailfish: Advanced level. Swimmers work on all strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly), and perfecting the racing dive. Class is held in competition pool in depths up to 12 to 15 feet deep.
Swimmers will be divided into the appropriate skill level during lessons.

30-minute private swim lessons are available for youth and adults. One additional person can be registered for the same private lesson for an additional $40 (for each 3 lessons). Lessons canceled for any reason without 24 hours’ notice will not be rescheduled. Participants are permitted one reschedule date within a 3-lesson package and two reschedule dates within a 6-lesson package. Register online for swim lessons (discounted price for additional person not available online- please call the community center 314-822-5855 to set this up). Lessons will run from 6/1-8/1, their will be no lessons held on the week of June 30th to July 4th, and Friday, June 19th is a holiday.

Ages 8-14. The Seal Team Scuba Camp is a pool-based, activity filled introduction to the exciting world of scuba. Under the direct supervision of certified scuba professionals from Y-kiki Divers, campers will complete a new “AquaMission” each day to learn new scuba skills. A PADI Seal Team Crew Pack is provided to each diver. All equipment rental is included. Following the successful completion of the program, campers earn PADI Seal Team membership and a certificate of completion. Parents or guardians must complete and sign the PADI Seal Team liability release form and statement prior to camp. Participants who answer YES to any question on the medical history form must have a Physician’s Release prior to camp. Two sessions offered! M-F 9am-Noon 7/20-7/24 7/27-7/31 R&NR $320 per session.

Make a splash at Flip Flop Fridays, an after‑hours pool party for kids of all ages packed with music, games, and prizes. Kids 11 and under must bring their favorite adult to join in the fun. Chill in the shallow end, jump into games, or hang out in the dry zone with friends. Space is limited, so grab your crew, your swimsuit, and register early!

Rising 5th Graders (as of Fall 2026). Come join in the fun! Kirkwood's oldest camp program is full of exciting games and activities, arts and crafts, STEM projects, nature exploration, all-camp theme days, swimming twice a week, and a different field trip each week. We are keeping the field trips a surprise but we are sure you'll have a great time exploring St. Louis and making new camp friends along the way! Different field trips each week. Bring a lunch, sunscreen, and water daily.

Rising 1st-6th Graders (as of Fall 2026). Each day of this weeklong camp, we will visit a "foodie" destination around St. Louis, so be sure to bring your appetite and sweet tooth! We will also swim at the Kirkwood Aquatic Center twice throughout the week. Plus, we will have food-themed activities and games all week (a camper favorite- can you tell the difference between name brand and store brand cereals?!) Please note: full lunch is not provided, only snacks, so please bring a lunch daily (along with water and sunscreen).

Rising 1st-6th Graders (as of Fall 2026). The summer is drawing to a close and you still haven't gotten your fill of time at the pool? Spend three days soaking up some sun at the Kirkwood Aquatic Center before exploring two other pools around St. Louis to finish off the week. Plus, this camp includes a camper favorite, our cardboard boat float in the lazy river! Bring a lunch, sunscreen, and water daily.

Ages 8-15. Kirkwood Youth Theatre Camp: If you love to sing and dance, and meet other kids who share your love of musical theatre, this camp is for you! Spend two weeks inside the Robert G. Reim Theater learning from a professional director, musical director, and choreographer to improve your acting, singing, and dancing skills. Camp concludes with a matinee performance and evening performance, where friends and family can enjoy the show after all the hard work you’ve put in, complete with costumes, sets, and sound in a real working theater. Cast provides their own costumes but these will be kept simple and easy! Camp also includes an afternoon swimming at Kirkwood Aquatic Center and outdoor play time/down time between rehearsals. Bring lunch, sunscreen, and water bottle daily.

We are also thrilled to announce that our Summer Theater Camp Show will be MTI's Broadway Junior Revue - Raise your voice!

For those who may not be familiar, a Broadway revue is a theatrical production that brings together a collection of songs and dances from a variety of shows. We felt this format would be a wonderful way to showcase the diverse talents of our performers, as featuring 15 different numbers allows stage time to be distributed more evenly than in a traditional full-length production. Additionally, presenting a wide range of songs offers those who are newer to theater an exciting introduction to many different styles and genres.

Magic Self-Portraits & Story Quilts
Inspired by the art of Frida Kahlo, kids will create their own self-portraits in the style of magic realism to express their inner selves. Inspired by the art of Faith Ringgold, children create their own story quilt design.

Pop Art & Cut and Paste
Inspired by the art of Andy Warhol. Kids create a layered painting in the style of his silkscreen prints. Later, inspired by the art of Hannah Höch. It’s all about cutting, tearing, arranging, and gluing photos!

Wishing Trees & Art for the People
Inspired by the art of Yoko Ono, kids create paper tree sculptures inspired by Ono’s Wish Trees. Inspired by the art of Keith Haring, we will create our own dancing characters and iconic symbols from Keith Haring, one of the most famous street artists.

Fast paced activities designed to be fun while teaching the major fundamental skills and disciplines of the martial arts. Additional fees for uniform ($20-25) & annual AAU membership ($27) apply. Meets at Kirkwood Community Center.

A 6-week course modeled on the military's boot camp, but with instructors that encourage--not humiliate. This class is intense but geared toward all fitness levels, from couch potato to tri-athlete! Participants can expect to rapidly slim down, tone up, and build their cardiovascular endurance. The end of the program is marked with a celebration for those who have stuck it out.

Artfully Aging in-person watercolor classes are designed to offer an affordable and enjoyable way to engage each senior’s mind, talent, and spirit. Each therapeutic art session is led by experienced teaching artists highly trained in serving seniors of all abilities, ensuring an enriching and inclusive experience for every participant.

The Fall Kicks 'n Grins Soccer Program offers children currently enrolled (Fall 2024) in Pre-K through 4th grade an exciting opportunity to learn about the game of soccer in a non-competitive co-ed environment. Participants meet each Saturday for six weeks. This program includes games, a uniform top, and a soccer ball. These sessions are supervised by volunteer parent/coaches with the assistance of the recreation department staff.

Join us for a delightful day enjoying art, history, and time together in beautiful Forest Park. We’ll start the morning at the Saint Louis Art Museum, where you can explore the galleries at your own pace, with plenty of seating available throughout the museum.
For lunch, choose what works best for you—bring a picnic to enjoy in the park or dine indoors at the museum’s Panorama Restaurant. After lunch, we’ll visit the Missouri History Museum, offering engaging and familiar stories of local and national history in a welcoming setting.
The bus departs at 9:00 a.m. and returns at 3:00 p.m., making this an easy, enjoyable outing with no driving or parking to worry about. It’s a wonderful way to get out, learn something new, and spend time with others.
Note: Transportation is provided via school bus to help keep costs affordable.
